I am a belmar resident.....I will be the first to say Pringle is an asshole! I am a waitress at a popular resturaunt/club in belmar and I make some of my money from tourists. (I make more money on tourists than mayor Pringle as he has NEVER left a good tip) As much as I wish I didn't have to deal with the vomit on my front lawn strewn with solo cups, and be awakened at 4am by blasting techno from passing cars I don't agree with his statements. I do however ask that there is a little more respect for residents and the beach. I by no means think that every douchebag that comes here and treats this town like garbage is from SI or an Italian. All I want is to not see the beach used as an ashtray/garbage can/toilet. We have all these things along the beach and boardwalk for your conveinence and wish that you use them. I don't want to be cut off and then cursed at while trying to make it home in between jobs. It's just rude. Do not call your bartender or waitress babe or chief...we will not respond. Common courtesy is all we ask for from everyone no matter where you come from or what your heritage. I am respectful no matter where I go and to have someone shit on you and your town repeatedly sucks.

** No Belmar residents really hate Italians. They are just lashing out in retaliation for the damage, destruction and misery caused to us every summer by a select FEW people. (BTW, we also realize that not ALL of these "problems" are coming out of NY.)
I am not Italian, however personally I think Italians have a wonderful culture rich with history. They are by far an asset to this great country.
** Now, I won't waste any ones time crying about all the horrors caused by these young people coming to Belmar. Just believe me when I tell you that I could fill up several pages.
You cannot fault us for wanting to protect our family, property and community. I realize we live in a beach community, however just as it is your right to come to our beaches, it is our right and duty to watch out for ourselves.
** Here is a verifiable fact: Most Belmar residents do not benefit AT ALL from summer tourism. The slumlords and business owners live elsewhere.
THEY profit, while we clean up the puke, feces and broken glass and pizza boxes from our sidewalks, and we still pay high property taxes, for along with the added crowds comes the need for more garbage removal, policemen, EMS, signs etc.
Therefore I believe you will find Belmar residents very open to the idea of a boycott.
Perhaps it'll put these summer rental slumlords out of business and force them to sell! Yes, that is what we want.
** Personally, I love the summer crowds. They are fun, beautiful and lively. Most (yes most) of us welcome you to our town. Come and enjoy it! Have fun, do whatever on the beach, blow off some steam.
