StaTen Commandments
The Official Code of Conduct for Staten Islanders.
1. Thou shall only wear a “Ginny Tee” in the following circumstances:
a. In the privacy of your own home.
b. While working out or participating in a physical activity.
c. At the beach or pool.
d. If worn as an undergarment.
2. Thou shall tan via natural sources of light (i.e. the sun).
If one doth choose to tan by artificial means, tanning shall cease once thou’s skin has reached or exceeded the color amber. Refer to the Tanning color chart below.
3. Thou shall take the following course of action when someone has “got in your face”.
1. Politely ask the individual to remove themselves from your face.
2. Take one step to either your right or left, altering your path and thus removing the individual from your face.
3. In the event the first two options fail and physical force is required, thou shall use either their right or left arm as a divider between them and said individual and proceed past individual.
4. Though shall properly gauge car stereo decibel levels.
When driving a vehicle, with windows in their closed position, the music you are listening to shall not be heard by a bystander more than 10 feet away.
5. Thou shall never use the word “Yo” to start a sentence.
6. Thou shall only wear lower body attire that meets the classification of pants or shorts.
Therefore, thou shall not wear any “Capris”.
7. Thou shall not knowingly display the logo of any Armani product.
When wearing any Armani product, thou shall cover the Armani logo with two large strips of dark tape. One strip shall cover the Armani logo horizontally. The second strip shall cover the Armani logo vertically.
8. Though shall use the appropriate amount of hair products.
When applying hair gel the appropriate amount of gel is suggested:
a. Dime size for any individual with a hat size under 7.
b. Nickel size for any individual with a hat size between 7 and 7 3/4s.
c. Quarter size for any individual with a hat size exceeding 7 3/4s.
*Note: New Era Standard Sizes used in chart. Vary accordingly.
9. Thou shall not wear skin tight clothing, also refered to as “ball huggers”.
If male member’s bulge is visible to the naked eye, these pants need to be discarded.
10. Thou shall never use the “F bomb”.
It is also recommended to cease using any word that begins with the letter “f” to avoid any possible misunderstandings.

I love the angry responses
I love the angry responses from the Staten Islanders. There were some commandments specific to them that were conveniently left out of this otherwise vital list. For instance; "Thou shalt stop drink once thee starts talking like Big Daddy Snow on barbiturates". Or; "Thou shalt remember to bathe at least weekly, lest thou start to attract flies to thine open mouth". Assclowns, please stay on your dirty island and smell the assy air of dirty diaper stink.

this is hysterical!!!! especially number 2... anyone could use that chart as a reference! And with the hair gel... that can most definitely be applied to people other than Staten Islanders!! I've seen many guys and girls outside of NY who use more hair gel then they should! All of these commandments are great and should be given second thought the next time your out in public! People who think they are being stereotyped don't have a sense of humor! You need to look in the mirror and laugh at your self every now and then... and when your in your car... no matter what island, borough, state or country your from... pleaseee keep it to the level that your car is not vibrating... just bc u love ur music.. doesn't mean everyone else does! Stay Classy Staten Island... be proud of who you are! When your off the Island make sure you represent us proudly!

did you read the disclaimer? he talks about how people are like this all around the country and this list is meant to stop "the remaining" Staten Islanders who are ignorant enough to act this way from "exhibiting these characteristics". seems like half of them are a satirical response to Mayor Pringle and the other half should be taught to any youth in this country. spelling? could it be you just don't recognize these big words?

As much as i don't agree with stereotyping the ironic part is the mayor is right . Born and raised on this island the people who stereotype the most are from the south shore (in which i live on ) .. The most racist close minded people i've ever know .. I speak this way because up until my freshman year of college i to was yes working at a tanning salon with a blow out . (at least i survived any tribal tattoos or rosary beads and cross's .. Yes and then i moved to manhattan where still i brought the staten island culture with me not realizing what it would do . Unfortionately i was in a dorm with long island Dirty jerz so my actions went unnoticed .. i finally realized when i moved to astoria that there is so much more to life then techno music .. i moved back shortly and shut the world i knew of tottenville woodrow and other neighborhoods down .. i like things from staten island like handball and deli meat .. but the tough guy attitude or gas guzzling suvs or highlights that form cheetah patterns in girls hairs or coach bags tiffanys braacelets with the sivler hearts i can do with out .. was the mayor wrong yes but right at the same time people tend to have the attitude and alchol can be the fuse .. its funny close minded stereotypes dont like being stereotyped irony or ignorance ?
